FF1 SP –FBOPF 1 SPECIAL

FF1 SP tea, also known as Flowery Broken Orange Pekoe Fannings Special, is a premium grade of Ceylon black tea from Sri Lanka. It is a specialty tea made in limited quantities, featuring short, thin broken leaves and an abundance of golden tips. These golden tips are young, tender tea buds that contribute to the tea's unique flavor and visual appeal. This is a premium Ceylon black tea with a rich, full-bodied flavor and a hint of floral and caramel notes.

When brewed, FF1 SP tea produces a light golden-reddish liquor with a rich, aromatic scent. Its flavor is robust yet smooth, with subtle caramel-like notes and a hint of bitterness, making it a favorite among tea connoisseurs. This tea is often considered a luxurious choice, ideal for special occasions or as a thoughtful gift.

  • Measure Tea Leaves: Use approximately 1 teaspoon (2-3 grams) of FF1 SP tea per cup (240 ml) of water. Adjust based on your strength preference.
  • Heat the Water: Boil fresh water to around 90–95°C (194–203°F). Since this tea contains tender golden tips, avoid using water that's too hot to preserve its delicate flavors.
  • Steep the Tea: Add the tea leaves to a teapot or infuser. Pour the hot water over the leaves and allow them to steep for 2-3 minutes. A shorter steeping time will highlight the tea's smooth and subtle caramel-like notes, while longer steeping will produce a bolder cup.
  • Strain and Serve: Remove the tea leaves or strain the tea into your cup. The liquor will have a bright golden-reddish hue with a rich, aromatic scent.
  • Optional Additions: While FF1 SP tea is delightful on its own, you can add a touch of honey or a slice of lemon to enhance its natural flavors. Avoid milk, as it might overpower the tea’s delicate notes.

Here are some ideal flavor pairings:

  • Savory Snacks: Pair it with spiced nuts, cheese crackers or savory pastries to complement its robust character.
  • Sweet Treats: Enjoy it with honey-glazed desserts, dark chocolate or caramel-flavored sweets to enhance its subtle sweetness.
  • Breakfast Foods: Buttered toast, pancakes with syrup or a hearty omelet make for a delightful combination.
  • Fruits: Fresh or dried fruits like figs, apricots or oranges bring out the tea's floral undertones.
